Cypriot clubs prepare for European competition draws and roster updates
Cypriot football teams Omonia Nicosia, Pafos FC, AEK Larnaca, and Apollon Limassol are preparing for the upcoming 2026-2027 European competition draws scheduled for June 17. Omonia Nicosia will compete in the Champions League, starting from the second qualifying round with matches set for July 21-22 and July 28-29. Meanwhile, other clubs are entering the Europa League and Conference League qualification stages. Omonia Nicosia is also currently addressing roster issues, specifically the contract status of defender Alpha Dionkou, who has yet to respond to a renewal proposal. With Willy Semedo having departed the team, management is considering alternative options while awaiting the 24-year-old Senegalese player's decision. The club's medical exams for the new season are set to begin on June 18, putting pressure on finalizing personnel decisions. All clubs involved are aiming to progress through the qualification rounds to reach the league phase of their respective tournaments.
