Omonia completes transfer of Jaden Montnor after Willy Semedo departure
Omonia Nicosia has officially reached an agreement with Aris Limassol for the transfer of 23-year-old winger Jaden Montnor, who signed a four-year contract. The Surinamese player, who previously played in Austria and arrived in Cyprus in 2023, will join the squad pending medical examinations. This move follows the departure of Willy Semedo, who declined a renewal offer from Omonia to pursue more lucrative options abroad, reportedly including interest from clubs in China and the UAE. Omonia President Stavros Papastavrou stated that the club made an effort, though not an 'extraordinary' one, to retain Semedo. He confirmed that the acquisition of Montnor was finalized after the club knew Semedo would leave. Additionally, the club brought back Andronikos Kakoullis, while the future of Alpha Diounkou remains pending. Papastavrou refrained from commenting on potential interest in players like Laifis or Lukassen. The transition is viewed as a necessary strategic move for Omonia’s ongoing squad development.
