Omonia FC roster changes and preparations for the Champions League
Omonia FC is undergoing significant roster adjustments as the team prepares for the upcoming 2026-2027 season and the Champions League qualifiers. The club has decided to part ways with Senegalese defender Alpha Diounkou following a failure to agree on new contractual terms, specifically regarding his salary demands. Additionally, the departure of Masouras has prompted the team to prioritize the signing of a new right-back and a central defender. Manager Henning Berg and technical director Simos Tarapoulouzis are currently evaluating candidates, including Icelandic defender Hordur Magnusson. While player recruitment continues, the team has confirmed their pre-season schedule, starting with medical exams on June 18, followed by a camp in Kyperounta and a main training stage in Poland beginning June 29. A friendly match against Korona Kielce is scheduled for July 9. The club also awaits the June 17 draw to determine their first opponent in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, with matches set for July 21-22 and July 28-29.
