Drone traffic monitoring on Cypriot highways scheduled for June 2026

The Cyprus Department of Public Works, under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, has announced drone flights for traffic data collection. These operations will take place from Monday, June 8, 2026, to Thursday, June 18, 2026, daily between 09:30 and 17:00. The drones will fly along selected sections of highways A1 (Agia Varvara/Nisos to Sia junction), A2 (Agia Varvara/Nisos to Rizoelia junction), and A3 (Rizoelia junction to Livadia exit). The affected areas span the districts of Nicosia, Larnaca, and Famagusta. Flights are scheduled to occur parallel to the highways over the embankments and outside the main traffic lanes. The collected data will be processed in strict compliance with the European Union Regulation 2016/679 regarding the protection of personal data. The Department of Public Works has apologized for any potential inconvenience and requested public cooperation during this period.
