Cyprus Pride 2026 takes place in Nicosia

The 12th annual Cyprus Pride event took place on June 6, 2026, at the Municipal Gardens in Nicosia. Organised by Accept LGBT Cyprus, the event featured the slogan 'Get out. On your own proud path,' aimed at reclaiming a phrase often used for exclusion and transforming it into a message of freedom and visibility. Programming began at 2:00 pm, followed by a pride march at 6:00 pm through the streets of old Nicosia. Notable attendees included Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, AKEL Secretary-General Stefanos Stefanou, Minister of Transport Alexis Vafeadis, and former EU Commissioner Stella Kyriakides. The festival included activities for children, free HIV testing by the organisation Checkpoint, and musical performances by artists such as Evridiki and various drag queens. Speakers addressed issues such as the rights of children with same-sex parents and the importance of social inclusion. The event sought to protest against stigma and the misuse of terms like 'traditional values' to marginalize minority groups.
