Cyprus Pride 2026 to be held in Nicosia on June 6

The Accept LGBT Cyprus organization is holding the 12th annual Cyprus Pride event on June 6, 2026, at the Municipal Garden in Nicosia. The day's program begins at 2:00 PM, with the main march scheduled for 6:00 PM. This year's slogan, 'Take the road, your own proud road,' aims to reframe a phrase typically used for exclusion into a message of empowerment and unity. Event secretary Stefanos Evangelidis stated that the march is intended to include all marginalized groups, including workers affected by inflation and people with disabilities, rather than only the LGBTQ+ community. The festival will feature performances by artists including Evridiki, Giannis Margaris, Zali, Aphroditios, Andromeda Balls, Zivana Olel, and PHNX_87. Organizers noted that the event serves as a response to rhetoric using terms like 'traditional values' as tools for exclusion. A key focus remains the legal rights of children with same-sex parents, specifically regarding custody and guardianship. The organization emphasizes that the march is an act of dignity and visibility rather than protest against any specific group.
