Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture approves 2026 operational funding for theater organizations

The Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus has approved a total of €333,675 in funding for ten theater organizations for the year 2026. This financial support is part of a plan designed to cover annual operational costs, including administrative expenses, infrastructure maintenance, and technical support. Out of 11 submitted applications, one was deemed invalid, resulting in the approval of the remaining ten. This initiative aims to ensure the sustainability and stability of professional theater groups throughout the calendar year. The funding announcement follows the recent results of the 'Thymeli' program, which allocated €690,400 to 16 specific theatrical productions for the second half of 2026. While the 'Thymeli' scheme focuses on individual productions, the current operational grant is specifically for fixed organizational costs. All applicants were notified of the results in writing. Both programs are described as complementary mechanisms for state support of the Cypriot theater sector.
