Ukrainian drone attacks reported in Saint Petersburg and Moscow
On the night between Friday and Saturday, Russian authorities reported extensive drone activity targeting the Leningrad region, which surrounds Saint Petersburg during its international economic forum. Sources provided conflicting figures regarding the number of drones intercepted, with some reports citing 86 incidents and others 25. Saint Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov urged residents to stay indoors, and Pulkovo International Airport temporarily suspended flights. Simultaneously, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported the interception of eight to nine drones heading toward the capital. These events occurred as the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum concluded, following a speech by President Vladimir Putin. Earlier in the week, strikes were reported at nearby oil and military installations. The Ukrainian military has increased drone operations against Russian territory and occupied areas in response to ongoing Russian strikes on Ukrainian urban centers.
