Car accident on Nicosia-Limassol motorway results in vehicle fire

A 34-year-old driver and two passengers were involved in a traffic accident on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Choirokoitia at 00:30. The driver swerved from the left to the right lane and collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old woman. Following the impact, the 34-year-old lost control and struck a metal guardrail, causing his vehicle to catch fire. All three occupants of the first vehicle managed to escape unharmed before the car was completely destroyed. The Fire Service extinguished the blaze, and both drivers tested negative for alcohol. The individuals were transported to Larnaca General Hospital as a precautionary measure. Separately, another incident occurred on the same motorway near the Mouttagiaka exit on Friday, June 5, where a vehicle stalled in the right lane, causing traffic congestion without reported injuries. The Zygi Police Station is currently investigating the circumstances of the first accident.
