Recent incidents of violence and fire in Cyprus
On June 10, 2026, a vehicle parked outside a repair shop in Paphos was destroyed by fire around 2:10 a.m. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. Separately, on the night of June 10, around 11:30 p.m., unknown individuals fired shots at a car parked outside the home of a 72-year-old in Paphos; the area has been cordoned off for investigation. In an unrelated incident on June 9, the Fire Service responded to two fires in the Nicosia district. One fire involved a moving truck carrying hay bales in the Dali livestock area, while the other occurred between Paleometocho and Kokkinotrimithia, burning eight decares of vegetation. No injuries were reported in any of these incidents, and police investigations remain ongoing.
