Recent transport and security incidents reported in Cyprus

Authorities in Tremithousa are investigating an arson case after a 56-year-old resident's car was set on fire at 04:30 on Monday, with investigators finding traces of flammable materials. In a separate incident on the same day, a pickup truck collided with a stationary vehicle on the shoulder of the Famagusta-Larnaca motorway near Livadia at 05:00, leading to the hospitalisation of the pickup driver. Additionally, a large articulated vehicle caught fire while in motion on the road between Lympia and Athienou on Sunday at 09:43, damaging a trailer and a generator while spreading to nearby vegetation. A fourth incident occurred in central Larnaca on Monday, involving a car that crashed into a building entrance after failing to turn correctly from a parking space. No injuries were reported in the Tremithousa fire, the Larnaca building crash, or the vehicle collision involving the stationary car. Police and fire services responded to all scenes, and investigations into the causes of the fire and the road accidents are ongoing.
