Student activist returns to India to lead protests against government
Abhijit Dipke, a 30-year-old political communication student at Boston University, has returned to New Delhi to lead demonstrations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. Dipke founded the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on social media, which gained millions of followers as a reaction to comments by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who reportedly labeled young critics as 'cockroaches' and 'parasites'. While the judge later claimed he was referring only to individuals with fake degrees, the remark sparked significant backlash. The CJP is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who faces criticism over a leaked entrance exam paper for medical schools. The exam, originally held on May 3, was canceled and rescheduled, leading to widespread political instability. Government authorities have blocked several of Dipke's social media accounts in India. Dipke stated that he remains committed to his political goals despite fears of potential arrest upon his arrival.
