Monterrey interested in AEK Athens midfielder Orbelin Pineda

Monterrey manager Matias Almeyda has reportedly requested the acquisition of Orbelin Pineda from AEK Athens. Journalist Fernando Esquivel stated that the Argentine coach is seeking to bring the Mexican international to the Liga MX side. Pineda, who is currently under contract with AEK Athens until 2027, has a release clause in his existing agreement. The transfer process is currently on hold as the player is focusing on his upcoming commitments related to the World Cup. During the 2023-2024 season, Pineda recorded 50 appearances for the Greek club, contributing 5 goals and 5 assists. Reports suggest that while the club is interested, formal negotiations are pending the conclusion of the player's current duties.
