Turkish military aircraft activity in Aegean airspace on June 6
On Saturday, June 6, the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) reported that nine Turkish military aircraft entered the Greek airspace. The mission involved four F-16 fighters, two ATR-72 maritime patrol aircraft, two UAVs, and one helicopter. According to official Greek reports, the aircraft performed nine violations of national airspace and eight infringements of air traffic rules within the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR). Two of the Turkish F-16s were confirmed to be armed. During the operation, a dogfight occurred between a Turkish fighter and a Greek standby aircraft. The HNDGS stated that all Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international protocols. No casualties or damages were reported during the incident.
