European Travel Commission reports shifts in European traveler behavior
A new study by the European Travel Commission (ETC) and MINDHAUS reveals that European travelers are increasingly prioritizing sustainability and experience quality. The research identifies five distinct travel profiles, including those who prefer off-beat destinations to avoid crowds and remote workers. Findings indicate that 64% of Europeans have adopted at least one form of responsible travel behavior. Data shows that 80% of travelers plan trips within Europe, with 40% intending to spend over 1,500 euros. Regarding travel logistics, 51% of respondents are choosing less popular destinations, and 67% are opting to travel during off-peak or shoulder seasons. Additionally, 50% of travelers are booking stays lasting longer than seven nights. The study notes that travel preferences remain diverse, with 22% favoring sun-and-sea holidays, while 15% each are interested in city breaks, cultural experiences, and nature-oriented activities.
