Authorities uncover Hamas-linked terror network operating in Cyprus and Greece
Cypriot authorities have referred three suspects—aged 32, 38, and 54—to trial before the Criminal Court, with proceedings scheduled for August 6. The group, accused of terrorism, conspiracy to commit murder, and money laundering, was allegedly directed by a Hamas operative based in Malaysia. The 32-year-old suspect confessed to being recruited, receiving explosives training in Malaysia and Istanbul, and photographing targets in Cyprus. A 38-year-old physics teacher was reportedly sent to Cyprus to assemble explosive devices. Authorities seized chemicals and equipment at properties in Kornos, Kamares, and Governor's Beach. Separately, a 37-year-old Palestinian man was arrested in Greece and remanded in custody after investigations revealed links to the Cyprus network. While the 37-year-old admitted to recruitment, his defense claims he was coerced and set up, characterizing the evidence against him as weak.
