Two separate fires reported in Nicosia district

On June 8, 2026, at 09:55, a fire broke out in the village of Kampia, Nicosia district, burning 100 square meters of low vegetation. The fire was brought under full control by 10:20 through the efforts of 12 personnel and three vehicles from the Department of Forests, along with three personnel and one vehicle from the Fire Service. Additionally, a separate fire occurred on June 7, 2026, at 11:32 near the Kottafoi State Forest in the village of Agrokipia. This incident burned 0.5 decares of grain and low wild vegetation. It was contained by 11:45 by 12 Department of Forests personnel using four fire engines. No homes or infrastructure were threatened in either incident. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of both fires.
