Cyprus Minister of Energy conducts series of diplomatic and energy meetings in the US

Cyprus Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, George Papanastasiou, is visiting the United States for a series of high-level meetings and forums. On Monday, he attended the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) in Washington, discussing regional security, and met with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and White House National Energy Dominance Council officials. On Tuesday, he participated in the Atlantic Council's Eastern Mediterranean Energy Business Forum and addressed the 41st annual conference of PSEKA regarding hydrocarbon exploitation in the Cypriot EEZ. On Wednesday, the minister joined an Atlantic Council Global Energy Forum discussion on European energy resilience. The trip concludes in Houston on Thursday with the 3+1 Ministerial Meeting involving representatives from Cyprus, Greece, Israel, and the United States. During this visit, officials are also set to inaugurate the East Med Energy Center at Rice University's Baker Institute, a facility mandated by the 2019 EastMed Act to foster collaboration in technology, research, and energy. Notably, Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen canceled his participation, with Ambassador Yechiel Leiter representing the country instead.
