Cyprus and India sign bilateral defense and strategic agreements
Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides visited New Delhi last month to conduct high-level meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders focused on strengthening diplomatic, economic, and defense ties between their respective nations. A primary outcome of the visit was the signing of a formal defense cooperation agreement intended to impact the security landscape of the eastern Mediterranean region. This partnership includes provisions for the exchange of technical expertise and the promotion of regional stability. Furthermore, the discussions highlighted the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) project as a strategic priority. The collaboration is framed within the context of aligning shared values and responding to broader geopolitical shifts. Both nations aim to enhance their cooperation in trade and developmental sectors through these new bilateral frameworks.
