Cyprus police conclude speed enforcement campaign and launch driver awareness initiative
The Cyprus Police conducted a road safety campaign focusing on speed enforcement from November 19 to November 25. During this period, authorities issued 2,382 speeding fines. According to police statistics, speeding is the third leading cause of fatal traffic accidents, following driving under the influence and driver inattention. Following the conclusion of the speed campaign, a new initiative began on November 26 and will continue until December 2. This second campaign specifically targets driver inattention. Official statements indicate the effort aims to reduce traffic accidents by raising awareness about distractions such as mobile phone usage. International statistics cited by the police suggest that distracted driving significantly limits reaction times in emergency situations.
