Reports emerge of alleged agreement between Intellexa and Greek intelligence services
A report published by the newspaper To Vima, authored by journalist Vassilis Lambropoulos, has reignited political debate regarding the Greek wiretapping scandal. The report alleges that Tal Dilian, the owner of Intellexa and a convicted individual in the Predator spyware case, claims the existence of a 2020 cooperation agreement with the National Intelligence Service (EYP). This document purportedly outlines the legal operation of the Predator spyware and includes signatures from both parties. Despite these claims, reports indicate that the agreement did not gain an official institutional status because there is no legal framework in Greece for the procurement of such software. Furthermore, the report mentions the existence of numerous emails between Intellexa personnel and Greek state officials, specifically from the EYP, concerning technical maintenance and operations of the system. The Greek opposition has requested a new investigation into these allegations. The government has previously faced significant scrutiny regarding the use of surveillance tools against citizens and officials. The disclosure has renewed calls for further accountability and transparency in the state's intelligence operations.
