APOEL appoints Nikos Papadopoulos and Paphos FC pursues transfer targets
APOEL Nicosia has officially appointed Nikos Papadopoulos as head coach for the term starting July 1, 2026, until May 2028. Papadopoulos, who previously managed Levadiakos, is tasked with rebuilding the team for its centenary season alongside sporting director Zisis Vryzas. The club is also in negotiations to bring in an investor group led by Savvas Liasis, with meetings held at the Cyprus Football Association to ensure compliance with UEFA regulations. Meanwhile, Paphos FC is working to strengthen its squad and has initiated contact to explore the potential return of former captain Jairo da Silva. The club is also considering a loan move for Brazilian winger Gabriel Teixeira Aragao, known as Biel, currently under contract with Sporting Lisbon. Additionally, Paphos FC plans to offer a contract renewal to their Brazilian player Bruno. Sources indicate that while negotiations for Jairo are ongoing, a final deal has not yet been reached.
