Nikos Papadopoulos appointed as head coach of APOEL
On June 19, 2026, APOEL officially announced the appointment of 54-year-old Greek coach Nikos Papadopoulos. The two-year contract is set to run from July 1, 2026, until May 2028. Papadopoulos, who previously managed Levadiakos, worked in coordination with APOEL's sporting director Zisis Vryzas to finalize team planning before his formal appointment. The club highlighted his methodical approach and experience in the Greek and Cypriot leagues as key factors for the decision. This appointment marks a departure from the recent trend of one-year coaching contracts at the club. Meanwhile, club spokesperson Nektarios Petevidis confirmed that discussions regarding a new investor remain ongoing. Additionally, reports indicate that AEL Limassol is continuing its transfer strategy by acquiring players with experience in the Cypriot league, such as Tavares, Kapino, and Papageorgiou.
