Cyprus and Kyrgyzstan sign tax agreement
On June 8, 2026, the Republic of Cyprus and the Kyrgyz Republic signed a Convention for the Elimination of Double Taxation regarding income and capital taxes in Bishkek. The agreement also includes provisions to prevent tax evasion and tax avoidance. Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos and Kyrgyzstan Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov signed the document on behalf of their respective governments. The agreement establishes a legal framework for cooperation, aiming to reduce administrative and tax burdens for taxpayers and investors. Key features of the treaty include mechanisms for the exchange of tax information between authorities and procedures for resolving tax disputes. The Cypriot Ministry of Finance stated that this agreement aims to enhance bilateral economic, commercial, and investment ties. Government officials emphasized that expanding the network of such tax treaties is a priority for Cyprus’s economic and political interests.
