Paralimni-Deryneia announces over 55 million euros in development projects

The Paralimni-Deryneia Municipality is initiating development projects exceeding 55 million euros to establish the town as a commercial and cultural center in the free Famagusta district. Mayor Giorgos Nikolettos stated that the plan includes infrastructure upgrades, road improvements, and the expansion of a coastal promenade intended to span 17 kilometres from Kapparis to Konnos Beach. Key projects include a 3 million euro regeneration of the central square, which has received planning permission, and a 9 million euro town centre regeneration project. While official reports highlight the scope of these improvements, local media noted that some projects, including the square and promenade, have experienced significant delays in the past. The municipality aims to enhance both the quality of life for residents and the region's appeal as an international tourism destination. The current phase involves moving forward with permit applications, with a building permit application for the central square expected by August.
