Chinese film week to be held in Cyprus
The Embassy of China in Cyprus, the China Film Administration, and the Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Culture are jointly hosting a Chinese Film Week from June 10 to 15. The event marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus and celebrates the United Nation’s International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. Screenings are scheduled in Nicosia and Limassol. The opening ceremony takes place on June 10 at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, featuring the premiere of The Sound of Shanghai by Cypriot director Marios Joannou Elia. A special youth screening of Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector is set for the afternoon of June 10. Additional films, including A Table for Two and I Am What I Am, will be screened at venues such as the Pantheon Theatre and the Cyprus University of Technology. A cultural exchange zone supported by the Confucius Institute will also be available for visitors. While some sources describe the event as an invitation-only premiere, others indicate broader public screenings during the five-day program.
