Dispute between MP Dimitris Baros and journalist Giorgos Tattis
Following the recent parliamentary elections, a public conflict arose between MP Dimitris Baros of the Direct Democracy party and journalist Giorgos Tattis. Tattis reported that while inviting the newly elected MP to his show, Baros reacted aggressively and threatened to destroy his career. The journalist stated he informed the MP that he would disclose his refusal to appear on air for transparency reasons, which allegedly triggered the threats. Baros acknowledged using the phrase about ending the journalist's career but denied initiating the hostility. The MP claimed that Tattis was the one who acted aggressively first and that his own reaction was a defensive response. He further described the journalist's behavior as problematic and insisted he was being harassed. The Green Party – Citizens' Cooperation expressed concern over the incident, stating that such rhetoric threatens press freedom and the accountability of public officials. As of the latest reports, the Direct Democracy party has not issued an official response to the allegations.
