Cyprus records employment growth in first quarter of 2026

According to preliminary data from the Statistical Service of Cyprus, total employment reached 513,367 people in the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The workforce consisted of 460,476 employees and 52,891 self-employed individuals. Furthermore, actual working hours rose to 238,274 thousand, marking a 2.5% increase year-on-year. Growth in both employment and working hours was most prominent in the wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle repair, information and communication, and construction sectors. These statistics indicate a continued positive trend in the Cypriot labor market at the beginning of 2026.
