ELAM requests government review of Cyprus Pride 2026 events

The political party ELAM issued an official statement expressing concerns regarding the 'Cyprus Pride 2026' march, which took place last Saturday in central Nicosia. The party criticized the event organizers, citing the presence of semi-nude individuals in areas accessible to minors and the allegedly sexualized nature of the program. ELAM argued that such public demonstrations promote controversial objectives, including same-sex adoption and anti-nationalist rhetoric. Additionally, the party requested that the Ministry of Education investigate concerns involving teachers who participate in drag performances. ELAM has called upon members of DISY, AKEL, and other participating political parties to provide a public explanation for their support of the event. While the march was held as a large-scale gathering, supporters emphasized themes of pride and inclusivity, whereas ELAM characterized the proceedings as offensive to a significant portion of the public.
