Municipality of Paphos announces urban upgrades and removal of unauthorized structures

The Municipality of Paphos is currently undertaking urban renewal projects across the city, including the renovation of the historic 'Efseveia' club and a neighboring municipal building designated for city services. Acting Mayor Aggelos Onisiforou announced that additional efforts are focused on the Agios Antonios area, which is considered a primary tourist destination. Following a site inspection on Friday with municipal officials and the District Self-Government Organization, authorities confirmed plans to remove illegal structures, including unauthorized pergolas. Concrete bollards in the area will be replaced with metal posts as part of a broader upgrade. The municipality also intends to reclaim and restore public toilets that are currently occupied and non-functional. Furthermore, the city plans to install new lighting to improve safety and functionality. These measures are described as part of a strategic effort to enhance the aesthetic and tourism profile of the city. Officials emphasized that municipal regulations regarding the use of public space will be enforced strictly.
