President Christodoulides calls for the approval of university clinic legislation
President Nikos Christodoulides has urged the Cypriot Parliament to approve the bill regarding university clinics before the end of the current year. The statement was made during the inauguration of the new Nicos K. Shacolas Medical School and Health Sciences building at the University of Cyprus. The president emphasized that this legislative reform is essential for Cyprus to become a regional hub for education, research, and healthcare innovation. The building project, initiated in 2022, was funded by a 9-million-euro donation from the Nicos and Elpida Shacolas Foundation, alongside financing from the European Investment Bank and the Council of Europe Development Bank. Christodoulides stated that there is no justification for further delays, noting that the Cabinet has already approved the measure. The government views investment in health and education as a priority for the country's future. The legislation remains under active consideration by the legislature.
