Resumption of tourist flights from Israel to Cyprus
Tourist traffic to Cyprus from Israel is showing signs of recovery as the summer season begins in June. Travel from Israel had declined significantly since March, following regional instability and a specific security incident at British military bases in Cyprus. According to Hermes Airports flight data, there is now a notable increase in daily flights from Tel Aviv and Haifa to both Larnaca and Paphos airports. On Tuesday, 13 flights arrived in Larnaca and 6 in Paphos, with 14 and 7 scheduled respectively for Wednesday. Local stakeholders attribute this recovery to the start of the summer season and a relative, albeit fragile, de-escalation in regional hostilities. Despite some recent sporadic flare-ups, market experts note that the tourism industry is stabilizing, though total annual figures may not reach last year's records. Israeli tourists remain a critical market segment due to their high per capita expenditure.
