Police officer arrested in Limassol for obstruction of justice

A 42-year-old police officer was arrested in Limassol on Wednesday regarding an ongoing investigation into organised crime and money laundering. Authorities state the officer is accused of conspiracy to obstruct justice, witness intimidation, and making threats between May and June 2026. This arrest is linked to a prior probe initiated on May 14, 2026, which involved a 45-year-old policeman, a 49-year-old man, and a 50-year-old woman. In the earlier operation, police seized assets worth over 400,000 euros, including multiple luxury vehicles, following court-ordered freezes. Investigations indicate the 42-year-old suspect allegedly attempted to influence a witness to provide testimony favorable to the 45-year-old officer already in custody. The suspect has been placed on suspension pending further legal proceedings.
