Recent traffic accidents and road maintenance updates in Cyprus
On June 13, 2026, a serious collision occurred on the Omodos-Mandria road in the Limassol district, involving a 73-year-old man and a 36-year-old man with a 35-year-old passenger. All three were hospitalised at Limassol General Hospital with non-life-threatening but serious injuries, including various fractures. Police are investigating the causes of this accident. Additionally, a minor accident involving only material damage occurred on the Paphos-Limassol motorway near the tunnel on June 12, causing temporary lane closures. On June 14, another section of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Kofinou was closed due to a separate collision, with traffic diverted. Meanwhile, the Limassol Municipality has announced resurfacing works starting June 15 in the Agios Ioannis area, scheduled daily from 06:30 to 16:00. Furthermore, the Department of Public Works is conducting ongoing maintenance and installation of emergency doors across various motorways, including the Larnaca-Ayia Napa and Larnaca-Nicosia routes, throughout June 2026.
