Road accidents and infrastructure updates reported in Cyprus
Over the weekend of June 14-15, 2026, multiple road incidents and infrastructure projects were reported across Cyprus. On June 14, a section of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway near Kofinou and Skarinou was closed due to a serious traffic collision, with police diverting traffic through the Kofinou exit. Separately, on June 15, a vehicle accident causing material damage led to heavy congestion on the Nicosia exit towards Limassol, specifically between the Kalispera traffic lights and the Athalassa exit. Additionally, a collision in Omodos on June 14 involving two vehicles resulted in three individuals aged 35, 36, and 73 being hospitalized with serious but stable injuries. Meanwhile, the authorities announced ongoing road maintenance and emergency door installation works on several motorways, including the Larnaca-Ayia Napa and Larnaca-Limassol routes, scheduled through June 26. The Limassol Municipality also began asphalt paving works in the Agios Ioannis area. Drivers were urged by police to exercise caution and adhere to temporary traffic signage during this period.
