Road incidents and ongoing construction impact traffic in Cyprus
On June 15, 2026, several traffic incidents and infrastructure projects were reported across Cyprus. A single-vehicle collision near the Kalispera traffic lights in Nicosia caused significant congestion on the outbound route toward Limassol, extending to the Athalassa exit. Separately, a broken-down lorry caused a traffic obstruction on the Limassol-Paphos motorway at the Erimi exit. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works announced that the tunnel on the Paphos-Limassol motorway in the direction of Limassol is closed daily from 8:00 to 19:00 until June 19 for roadworks, with traffic diverted to the opposite carriageway. Additionally, extensive maintenance works including the installation of emergency doors and safety barrier repairs are ongoing on various motorways, such as the Larnaca-Ayia Napa and Larnaca-Nicosia routes, until June 26. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, maintain low speeds, and follow temporary signage throughout the affected areas. No casualties were reported, with incidents resulting primarily in material damage and delays.
