Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival concludes with Tempo performance
The 27th Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival, organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Rialto Theatre, will conclude on Sunday, June 21. The closing performance, titled Tempo, is an international co-production by Finnish director Kalle Nio and Brazilian choreographer Fernando Melo. Based on a text by Harry Salmenniemi, the work explores themes of time, duration, and perception through a blend of dance, theater, and stage illusions. The production features music by Samuli Kosminen and performances by Barbara Kanc, Luigi Sardone, and Winston Reynolds. The choreographic work integrates elements of acrobatics and puppetry to investigate the concepts of time acceleration and suspension. This event marks the first professional collaboration between Nio and Melo. The festival has served as a platform for both local and international choreographic voices throughout its duration.
