Cyprus vehicle registrations report for May 2026

The Statistical Service of Cyprus reported that total vehicle registrations reached 5,173 in May 2026, a 6.0% increase compared to 4,879 in May 2025. Saloon car registrations rose by 7.7% to 4,000 units during the same month. For the first five months of 2026, total vehicle registrations grew by 13.0% to 23,743, compared to 21,012 in the same period of 2025. Saloon car registrations for the five-month period increased by 12.5% to 18,259 units, of which 33.5% were new and 66.5% were used. Rental vehicle registrations declined by 14.2% from 2,197 to 1,884. Regarding engine types for the first five months, hybrid vehicles increased their market share to 51.3%, while petrol cars dropped to 35.4% and diesel cars decreased to 8.3%. Electric vehicles saw a minor share increase from 4.7% to 5.0%.
