Cyprus gaming commission presents 2024-2025 institutional review
On June 9, 2026, the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission (CGCA) held a conference to present its institutional review for the 2024-2025 period. Chairman Professor Pieris Chourides reported that direct state revenue from the commission reached 41 million euros, with a total contribution of 166.4 million euros between 2018 and 2025. The growth in the sector is largely attributed to the successful operation of the Integrated Casino Resort (ICR) in Limassol, which opened in 2023. Officials highlighted that international players currently outnumber Cypriot players in both participation rates and activity volume. During the event, the CGCA launched a national responsible gambling awareness campaign titled 'Take Control' and introduced the 'Metron' funding programme to support anti-problem gambling initiatives. Additionally, the commission confirmed that Cyprus has been selected to host the annual conference of the Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF). Addressing questions regarding gambling facilities in the occupied areas, the commission noted that these operate illegally, and the authorities focus on preventative public education measures. The event was attended by government representatives, including Dr. Michalis Chailis of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, and various political figures.
