Arrest made in Kato Polemidia stabbing case
On Tuesday afternoon, a 23-year-old man was seriously injured after being stabbed in the abdomen during an altercation in Kato Polemidia, Limassol. The victim was transported to Limassol General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently out of danger. On Thursday morning, a 24-year-old suspect surrendered to the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following the issuance of an arrest warrant. A local court has ordered an eight-day remand for the suspect. The victim has identified the suspect as his attacker, stating the dispute stemmed from a prior misunderstanding. While investigators are exploring potential motives including online content related to social media disputes and drug transactions, an official motive remains under investigation. Police are currently searching for the weapon used in the attack and missing personal items, including the victim’s phone, bag, and €500 cash.
