Paphos police investigate two separate online investment fraud cases

The Paphos police are investigating two recent cases of online investment fraud. In the first case, a 27-year-old woman lost 12,000 US dollars in cryptocurrency after seeking trading assistance in a social media group. Unknown individuals convinced her to send digital assets in three separate transactions, but the promised returns never materialized. In the second case, a 66-year-old woman was defrauded of over 6,600 euros. After initially investing 250 euros in March through an online platform, she was persuaded to transfer additional sums, followed by further payments disguised as tax fees in late May. When the perpetrators demanded even more money, the victim realized she had been deceived. Both cases are currently being handled by the Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department. Authorities have urged the public to exercise extreme caution and work only with authorized financial advisors and recognized companies.
