Kremlin states no current plans for Putin-Trump call
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that there are no current plans for a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. Peskov noted that American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner remain in contact with both Russia and Ukraine. These individuals previously mediated negotiations between the two nations, which reached a stalemate in February following military actions involving the U.S. and Israel against Iran. Currently, no specific dates have been set for any future visits by Witkoff or Kushner to Russia. The spokesperson emphasized that diplomatic channels remain open through these intermediaries despite the lack of direct leadership-level communication. The situation regarding the conflict mediation remains in a period of inactivity following the developments in February.
