Cyprus concludes its presidency of the Council of the European Union

Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou announced that Cyprus is in the final month of its presidency of the Council of the European Union. Speaking at the event titled 'Nicosia and the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council', he stated that the mission strengthened Cyprus's role as a partner within the European family. The minister described the presidency's approach as that of an honest broker, focusing on consensus, dialogue, and finding common European solutions. During this period, Nicosia served as a host to thousands of European officials, technocrats, journalists, and institutional representatives. Ioannou emphasized that the country actively worked to support European unity and strategic autonomy amid current geopolitical shifts. He concluded that the presidency succeeded in meeting its objectives and enhancing the international profile of the capital city. The government views this period as a significant national milestone that integrated Nicosia into the center of European political life.
