Eurostat reports 2025 unemployment statistics for Cyprus and the EU
Eurostat data for 2025 indicates that Cyprus recorded an unemployment rate of 4.4 percent for the labor force aged 15 to 74. While one source indicates the rate dropped from 4.9 percent in 2024, another notes the 2025 figure as a point of comparison against the EU average of 6 percent. Across the European Union, the average unemployment rate saw a marginal increase from 5.9 percent in 2024 to 6 percent in 2025. Spain recorded the highest unemployment at 10.5 percent, followed by Finland at 9.7 percent and Greece at 8.9 percent. Conversely, the Czech Republic reported the lowest rate at 2.8 percent, with Poland and Malta at 3.1 percent. The report also highlights a correlation between education levels and employment, noting an average unemployment rate of 10.5 percent for those with low education compared to 3.6 percent for those with higher education. In Slovakia, the gap between education groups was particularly significant, reaching a 36.7 percentage point difference.
