Barcelona declines purchase option for Marcus Rashford

Barcelona has decided not to trigger the 30 million euro purchase option for Marcus Rashford before it expires. The 28-year-old forward played for the Catalan club on loan from Manchester United during the 2025-2026 season, making 49 appearances, scoring 14 goals, and providing 14 assists. Fabrizio Romano reports that while Rashford is expected to return to Manchester United, Barcelona remains interested in keeping the player. The club intends to open new negotiations with the English side to discuss either a new loan deal or a permanent transfer at a reduced fee. Hansi Flick’s team aims to retain the forward for the upcoming season. Currently, Rashford is participating in the 2026 World Cup in Kansas with the England national team. England is drawn in a group alongside Senegal, Iraq, and Norway.
