Three arrested for the murder of Alexandros Daskalakis in Crete

Greek authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with the death of 49-year-old Alexandros Daskalakis, who died following an assault on March 1. The suspects include a 57-year-old farmer accused of masterminding the attack, his 32-year-old son, and a 59-year-old shepherd. According to the police investigation, the father and son allegedly struck the victim in the head with wooden shepherd's crooks, known locally as glitsas. The attack reportedly stemmed from long-standing disputes between the victim and the 57-year-old suspect regarding livestock damaging crops. On the day of the incident, Daskalakis was found bleeding and disoriented at his home shortly after 11:30, later losing consciousness despite medical intervention. The 32-year-old suspect had previously been linked to the high-profile death of Vangelis Giakoumakis in a separate historical case. It is noted that the arrested father and son had attended the victim's funeral.
