Nicosia hosts 3D mapping light show on Venetian walls
The Municipality of Nicosia has launched an audiovisual project featuring 3D projection mapping on the city's historic Venetian walls at the Davila bastion near Eleftheria Square. The 17-minute show serves as part of the cultural events marking Cyprus' presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026. The production combines light, music, and animation to narrate the history of Nicosia and its ties to European identity. Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou and Mayor Charalambos Prountzos attended the opening, highlighting the capital's role in hosting high-level EU summits and meetings. The exhibition is open to the public and will be projected every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 21:00 to 22:00 throughout the summer. While some reports specify the launch date as June 9th, others describe the events occurring on a Tuesday evening; both confirm the ongoing nature of the summer screenings. The project is presented as an effort to promote democratic and sustainable European values through creative technology.
