A man was recorded on video removing traffic bollards on Thekla Lysioti Street in Limassol, sparking public reactions. The individual stated he acted to alleviate severe traffic congestion caused by a vehicle accident nearby. According to his account, the crash had blocked the road, prompting drivers to drive through the designated bicycle lane. He claimed that the bollards obstructed vehicle maneuvers, hindering traffic flow. He noted that the bollards were secured with clips, allowing for easy removal by hand. Meanwhile, the Limassol Municipality has requested changes to the city's Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) following widespread public criticism of the project. The municipality has sent a letter to the relevant ministry outlining ten requested amendments regarding the ongoing infrastructure works.
