Dog rescued after drifting out to sea on a kayak in Bamburgh
A dog named Bruce was rescued off the coast of Bamburgh, Northeast England, after his owner's kayak drifted out to sea. Strong winds caused the unmoored kayak to move away from the shore while the dog was on board. The owner initially attempted to swim after the craft but returned to land for safety. The Coast Guard initiated a search operation involving multiple vessels. The crew of the tourist boat Serenity, led by captain Jimmy Reed, located the kayak approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) from the starting point. Bruce was brought aboard the Serenity safely, though he was found to be suffering from hypothermia upon rescue. Crew members provided immediate care by wrapping him in towels until he was stabilized.
