Ukrainian drone strikes target infrastructure in Mariupol and Sevastopol
Ukrainian forces launched drone strikes against the Russian-occupied port of Mariupol, reportedly damaging electrical substations, radar equipment, repair facilities, and fuel storage tanks. Kyiv stated these attacks are part of a broader campaign to disrupt Russian supply lines, including recent strikes on bridges connecting Kherson to Crimea. Separately, authorities in Russian-annexed Crimea reported a drone strike on a historical museum in Sevastopol, which ignited the roof of the building dedicated to the 1853-1856 Crimean War. Following these attacks, regional governor Sergey Aksyonov announced a reduction in nighttime rail services across the peninsula due to security concerns. This decision follows an earlier drone strike this week on a train that resulted in the death of an assistant engineer and injuries to a driver. Russia faces ongoing fuel supply challenges in the region, which officials attribute to these systemic infrastructure attacks. The Kremlin continues to reject direct negotiations with President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the conflict.
